PICTURESQUE RUIN

TINTERN ABBEY.
THE ABBEY WAS FOUNDED IN 1131 IN THE BEAUTIFUL WYE VALLEY. DISSOLUTION CAME IN 1536 BECAUSE OF KING HENRY VIII AND HIS DISSOLUTION OF THE MONASTERIES. IN THE LATE 18TH CENTURY, THE WYE VALEY AND TINTERN ABBEY BECAME FASHIONABLE FOR ITS ROMANTIC AND PICTURESQUE QUALITIES
