THE MONUMENT, LONDON, COMMEMORATES THE GREAT FIRE OF LONDON IN 1666. THE MONUMENT WAS BUILT BETWEEN 1671-1677. IT IS 203 FEET FROM TOP TO BOTTOM, THE EXACT DISTANCE TO PUDDING LANE WHERE THE FIRE BROKE OUT.

It looks like one of those staffs that Roman or Greek rulers carried in their hand to denote power.
