DIFFICULT CORRECTION

UNUSUAL GRAVESTONE, WHERE THE 17TH CENTURY STONEMASON REALISED HE HAD MADE A MISTAKE. INSTEAD OF STARTING OVER AGAIN, HE INSERTED THE WORD, "HIS", ON THE 6TH LINE, BETWEEN, "BEFORE" AND "QUEEN". THE LOWER PICTURE SHOWS THIS MORE CLEARLY BUT CLICK ON BOTH PICTURES TO ENLARGE THEM.

  1. That happens when you hand print things but wow, I would have thought they would have just left it out. Neat find.

  3. Hi L.D.,
Maybe the stonemason was paid by each letter carved and felt guilty. Anyway, it is just another interesting and unusual curio for us to see. Thanks for looking in.

  4. Hi Cheryl,
I agree, was it the stonemason or was it the customer? We will never know. Thanks for your support.
