THE OLD LOCK UP

DURING THE 19th CENTURY THIS COTTAGE WAS THE VILLAGE POLICE STATION. IF YOU CLICK ON THE PICTURE, YOU CAN SEE THE ORNATE HERALDIC PLAQUE, WHICH HAS BEEN PAINTED OVER. THERE WERE TWO CELLS INSIDE, AND THE BARS OF ONE CAN STILL BE SEEN. THE MAGISTRATE'S COURT WAS HELD UPSTAIRS.
