AROUND THE 1700's, THIS BOOT BATH WAS USED FOR THE POOR, PARTICULARLY AT ALMSHOUSES, IN LEDBURY, HEREFORDSHIRE. IT WAS TAKEN FROM DOOR TO DOOR WHERE THE OCCUPANT CAME OUT AND CLIMBED IN. AT THE NEXT HOUSE, SOME WATER WAS LET OUT AND FRESH ADDED BEFORE THE NEXT OCCUPANT CLIMBED IN.
