QUEEN CATHERINE PARR

THE CHURCH OF ST MARY'S, IN THE GROUNDS OF SUDELEY CASTLE, GLOUCESTERSHIRE, IS THE BURIAL PLACE OF QUEEN CATHERINE PARR. SHE WAS THE SIXTH WIFE OF HENRY VIII AND THE ONLY ONE HE DIDN'T DIVORCE OR EXECUTE. SHE OUTLIVED HIM!
THIS TOMB OF QUEEN CATHERINE PARR REPLACES THE ORIGINAL WHICH WAS DESTROYED BY CROMWELL'S TROOPS.

  1. I must admit I had to chuckle over the fact that one of the wives DID outlive Henry!

  2. Good for her, just outlive him and stay away far enough not to loose your head. It is a beautiful building and crypt.

  3. Hi Cheryl,
You could say she was one of the lucky wives, at least she kept her head!

  4. Hi L.D.,
Thanks for your comment. As a matter of interest, Henry VIII was the third husband of Catherine Parr and after Henry's death, she married Sir Thomas Seymour. Sir Thomas was the brother of Jane Seymour who was Henry VIII's third wife.
